Ecommunity Corporation shall manage the field of electronic waste recycling in Israel while striving for efficiency and excellence in implementing the world’s leading recycling standards, in compliance with regulatory requirements in Israel, and with transparent and reliable conduct.
The corporation shall apply the social recycling model. The corporation shall serve as a base for employment of people with special needs in the field of electronic waste recycling in Israel. The corporation will leverage the social model for business success.
The corporation shall work to promote and increase awareness of the values of environmental conservation, human dignity and their assimilation through education, acceptance of ‘the other’, and information provided to local authorities and educational institutions.
Ecommunity – Social Corporation for the Recycling of Electronice Waste Ltd was established in 2013 with the aim of receiving recognition as a “recognized implementing body” pursuant to the Electronic Waste Law, in order to fulfill the obligations of manufacturers and importers under the law.
The shareholders in Ecommunity are Ecology for Protected Community Ltd, owned entirely by Mr. Danny Kogan, employing people with disabilities for handling electronic waste; as well as European Recycling Platform (ERP), an international company established by some of the world’s largest electronics manufacturers: Electrolux ,Sony, HP, P&G and which operates recognized e-waste treatment bodies in many countries around the world.
In January 2014, Ecommunity was recognized for the first time by the Ministry of Environmental Protection as a “recognized implementing body” pursuant to the Electronic Waste Law.
Ecommunity’s main goal is to fulfill the obligations of manufacturers and importers pursuant to the Electronic Waste Law in the most environmentally friendly, efficient and cost-effective manner, while being interested in adjusting and reducing handling fees for the manufacturers and importers associated with it.
Ecommunity works to increase awareness in the Israeli public for the proper treatment of electronic waste and batteries, placing great emphasis on integration of people with special needs in the treatment of electronic waste, transforming them from a supported group into a productive, independent, and contributing one. In doing so, we believe that e-waste will be transformed from a burden into an asset!
